Our Story

How We Met

Lisa – We met online. After talking for awhile, Troy wanted to meet. I warned him that we shouldn’t meet because he would end up falling in love with me and it would be a big mess. Troy laughed at me and said, “that’s not going to happen.” We met. Here we are.

Troy – I had to beat her off with a stick, she totally wanted me more, don’t let her fool you.

Engagement

Troy – I had been planning to ask Lisa to marry me for a long time and had wanted to marry her way too early in our relationship but decided to try and play it cool. I planned for months and put together the perfect proposal. We were on a cruise and her favorite artist, Matt Nathanson, was playing on the last night of the voyage. I had worked with the production company to get us on stage for a proposal opportunity during the show – it was perfect. Until, I dropped the uninsured engagement ring overboard into the middle of the Caribbean Sea. Just kidding. But long story short, Matt lost his voice and had to cancel the show last minute so my on stage declaration of love was out. A romantic balcony proposal it was! It was probably more fitting for us anyway, and she said yes!

Lisa – Of course I said yes! I am crazy, madly, deeply in love with Troy. Although an engagement involving Matt Nathanson would have been amazing, that quiet moment on our balcony when Troy dropped to one knee still takes my breath away.

A little history lesson about where we’re getting married: The Lighthouse at Glen Cove Marina is a beautiful waterfront venue nestled in a small, quiet cove a hop, skip, and jump from where we live. The building was built in 1910 where it served as a lighthouse nearby and was moved via barge to it’s current location in 1955.

FAQs

You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.

Where is the ceremony?
Our ceremony is at The Lighthouse at Glen Cove Marina, located at 2000 Glen Cove Marina Road, Vallejo, CA, less than 5 miles from our home in Benicia, CA.
Where's the reception?
The reception is at the same place as the ceremony. Woohoo, how easy is that?!
When do I need to RSVP by?
Please RSVP by no later than Saturday, October 21, 2017. It’s important that we have an accurate count of who’s coming so we buy enough alcohol (and the caterer really wants to know).
What time does it start?
Our ceremony is set to start at 3 o’clock in the afternoon.
What time should I arrive?
We suggest you plan on arriving at The Lighthouse at 2:30 PM to give yourself time to pick a good seat and enjoy the gorgeous view.
Is parking available?
There’s plenty of free parking.
How long is this shindig?
The reception is scheduled to end at 11:00 PM. You don’t have to go home then, but you can’t stay here.
What about kids?
Well we have four, so we get it. If your children will add to your enjoyment of the day, please do. But, if you want a night out, feel free to lie to them and say no kids are allowed. A note for the little ones that do come, there’s unsecured access to the water (it is a marina after all), so please keep a close eye on them.
What kind of food can we expect?
It will be scrumptious and we will have vegetarian options, we have you covered.
Will alcohol be provided?
Our wedding will have an open bar. We’re thinking beer, wine, and a signature cocktail or two. WARNING: while it will be an open bar, our wedding will also be heavily photographed and any drunken shenanigans will be documented and thoroughly mocked for years to come. Proceed with caution.
What should I wear?
We will be quite dressed up, it is our wedding after all. If you enjoy dressing up, please do so. Cocktail attire would be lovely, but if dressing up makes you cringe, please wear what makes you comfortable. Just know, you might not be asked to join any photos ;). Weather permitting, the ceremony will take place outside on the lawn, so stilettos might not be the best choice of footwear.
What's the weather expected to be?
Your guess is certainly as good as ours. The average temperature is in the high 60s to low 70s, so fingers crossed!
Can I take photos?
You’re more than welcome to take pictures during the reception, but we are having an “unplugged ceremony” and ask that you put away all cameras, phones, and devices. Allow yourself to enjoy the view and be fully present with us during our ceremony. We have an excellent photographer who will take tons of photos and we will share them with you all. It’ll be a quick 30 minute ceremony, we won’t keep your technology hostage for long.
Where are you registered?
You can find a link to our registry conveniently right here on the website.

Registry

We are so happy that you’ll be able to join us for our wedding. As many of you know, we’ve combined households, and our house is already filled with all the things we could ever need to make it a home.

While the presence of your company is the only gift we could ever ask for, an alternative registry for our honeymoon has been setup for those who have expressed interest in offering a gift to mark the occasion.
